Višegrad Report

August 4, 2010

Photos to accompany report
These photos document the work of the Bosnia Missing Persons Institute (MPI) and the International Commission for Missing Persons (ICMP) to exhume the bones of the victims of the genocide in Višegrad, 1992-1995, from the riverbank and riverbed of the Drina. The river level will be low for a brief period due to work on a nearby dam, making this work possible for the first time. Public employees from Sarajevo were provided so that the work could proceed more quickly. The convoy departed from the National Museum the morning of August 4, 2010. Amor Mašović is the Director of the Bosnia Missing Persons Institute and Basim Mehmedic is the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton (both visible in one of the photos).
The photos also show the sites where atrocities occurred, including the Bikavac fire, and park where a Mosque, which was completely destroyed, once stood.

The house once stood in this now empty lot: it was destroyed and bulldozed.

This house stands next to the empty lot, and still shows smoke and fire damage.
